I've been dyeing some new wool using several shades of kool-aid. This is 8 oz of blue-faced Leicester. I doubled the strand of roving, and poured my dye to make a long gradient. As a small child my mother would sometimes treat me with a pack of Kool Aid with sugar mixed in and I would stick my finger in the packet and lick the mixture off. Needless to say, my finger would be red along with my mouth. I recall this because in my memory, I climbed a tree outside our house to enjoy the treat. I'm sure that it was red Kool Aid because after all, red is my favorite flavor. This memory must be from the mid-50s in Oakland, California.
