45 years ago today, (Week Ending) March 29, 1980, Bette Midler debuted on the Billboard AC chart at #47 with "The Rose". She went on to spend five weeks at #1. Also, leaped up ten notches to #76 on the Hot 100 and eventually peaked at #3 for three weeks there.

I’ve collected many 45RPM singles over many years, but this is one from my mom's collection that I inherited.

A Painter’s Studio, Michael Sweerts, c. 1646 - c. 1650
Like so many artists, Sweerts undertook a study trip to Rome. There he painted this scene of a painter’s studio, in which all the phases of artistic training are to be seen. At the left a young artist studies a large
anatomical figure; piled up at the right are fragments of antique statues. In the left background a painter sketches from a nude model; a completed painting hangs on the wall.

I built a cupboard for my moms mocca cup collection today. From click parquet wood parts, so there is a small groove to rest the saucers in and have them stand upright. My jigsaw is not the greatest but with some correction dremeling I got the parts to fit into one another. I mixed the Color from my paint pigments to match her other furniture. :) dimension is 1sq m. The cup is just my stand in.

Children Teaching a Cat to Dance, Known as The Dancing Lesson, Jan Havicksz. Steen, 1660 - 1679
These children are up to mischief: they are teaching a cat to dance to the music of a small shawm. Widely used between the 15th and 17th centuries, the shawm was the predecessor of the oboe. Mostly played in dance and ceremonial music, shawms were appreciated for their loud tone.

Hedwig beaker, anonymous, c. 1100 - c. 1200
This is one of sixteen extant Hedwig glasses, a type of beaker named after Saint Hedwig of Silesia (1174–1234), who owned two of them. According to an inscription on the bottom of this glass, it belonged a German count in 1643. The glass was then thought to be a thousand years old. In fact, it probably originated in the 12th century and was made in Sicily.

Two salt-cellars with satyrs, Adam van Vianen (I), 1622
Throughout the ages, salt was treated with respect: it was expensive and was ascribed curative properties. Salt-cellars were thus often ornate works of art fashioned from costly materials. These salts have a basic triangular shape. Each corner consists of a satyr or faun, a mythological creature with a human body and the legs, ears and horns of a goat.

Welp, that closes out my little project of listening and posting every #album in my #vinyl #collection.

I started posting these over 2 years ago, on January 23, 2023, by posting #AFI - Black Sails in the Sunset (1999)

And today I closed it on #record 249 #TheBeatles – 1962-1966 (1973).

This has been a lot of fun. I learned that I'm very thoughtful about the records I purchase, but will accept any and all records from others as gifts and at least give them a listen.

Thanks for hanging out with me as I posted these.

#JohnnyCash – The Legend (1970)

This is as close to #country #music as I can get and still enjoy it.

It doesn't include Ring of Fire, which is a shame.

I appreciate how short the songs are. Get in - Get to the point - Move on.

The record conditions are trash and the sleeve is held together with prayers. But for this one, the dusty grooves feel right.
