The arms were executed with a diamond-point stylus, a small diamond chip in a holder used to incise the glass. This technique was common in the Netherlands in the 17th century. Rijksmuseum RouletteRedingote or Great-Coat Dress, anonymous, c. 1786 - c. 1789 The origin of the redingote lies in long men’s coats with a cutaway front, the riding coat. It is a striking example of the influence men’s fashion exerted on women’s fashion. A redingote for ladies consisted of an overcoat or gown, and a loose skirt in a contrasting colour, which enhanced the coat-like effect. Rijksmuseum RouletteHedwig beaker, anonymous, c. 1100 - c. 1200 This is one of sixteen extant Hedwig glasses, a type of beaker named after Saint Hedwig of Silesia (1174–1234), who owned two of them. According to an inscription on the bottom of this glass, it belonged a German count in 1643. The glass was then thought to be a thousand years old.
