It's an interesting point you highlight because I've never thought of things through that paradigm. Now that I see it, I realise I'm hoping to transition to #openBSD because I believe of mainstream operating systems, it probably has the best #DX.
In this particular case, I believe that the developers exploit that in order to optimise for what might be called #security which impresses me.
I realise it's probably an outlier in this regard!

Since it is experimental, we expect some things to be broken, so if you try it and find a GHW file that doesn't work properly, please open an issue!

@whitequark @danluu Having used both: I still don't understand how the industry settled on #Verilog rather than #VHDL, which is vastly superior.
In the '90s I worked on big chip design projects, and would create these big test suites for part of my chip's functionality which would've taken about 100years (literally) to run on one machine, but i could farm out the tasks to process in parallel on all the machines of my co-workers when they went home and get it done in 10 or 12 hrs instead. It created a sense that an idle processor is a wasted opportunity.

I guess this is a Mastodon thing. Good morning. I'm a EE working primarily with #fpga devices, primarily in #vhdl (though #verilog if I have to). I currently work creating testing equipment for #avionics. Generally prefer #emacs for development though I did write VHDL Mode for #sublimetext which works pretty well.
In regular life I'm a #sf and #fantasy reader, enjoy walking my #dog, enjoy raiding and M+ in #warcraft, enjoy playing Go (#gogame #baduk), and other things.
