"…using #URIschemes isn’t a new idea and yeah, patchy browser support is a problem.
But the times they are a changin’. As Bluesky & the Fediverse build momentum, and the #decentralized path forward looks +attractive, the case for new URI schemes becomes easier.
As it should. Because the notion of the #URI is a foundational piece of the Web’s architecture, and the design of URIs has multiple protocol support baked in, and the URI schemes exist specifically to enable it."

PHP may be the first language to correctly support RFC3986 and WHATWG URL at the same time if wiki.php.net/rfc/url_parsing_a passes.

Any URI user should read this RFC. It is a big step in the right direction. Good job by @kocsismate90 .

If the RFC is too long I created a polyfill for testing which works on PHP8.1+ github.com/bakame-php/aide-uri It will get tagged as stable once the RFC has passed.

Switzerland's public transport system, and in particular its rail network, has long been more than a means of getting from A to B – it is a defining feature of the country's identity. Born in the 19th century amid industrial expansion and alpine engineering ambition, Swiss railways became vital to connecting remote mountain regions with economic centres, ensuring mobility across linguistic and cultural divides.

Today, Switzerland boasts one of the most efficient, punctual, and integrated public transport systems in the world. Trains not only link cities and villages with precision, but they also embody the country’s values: environmental responsibility, public service, and technical excellence. The Swiss trains winding through dramatic alpine landscapes have become cultural icons – symbols of balance between innovation and tradition.

Whether for daily commuters, schoolchildren, or tourists, public transport in Switzerland reflects a collective investment in accessibility, cohesion, and sustainable living.

@timbray on #URI schemes of the #Fediverse (and #BlueSky).

If he writes good pieces like that, we rather should listen and probably implement his suggestions as they are great!

For the first issue (not being able to directly interact with a toot although web-logged-in), you can use browser add-ons like addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firef that redirect fediverse-links to your instance.

One thing I initially found confusing with @element / @matrix: How one would share and join a channel. The way you get bounced between instances for that. And in a way for @Mastodon, too.

People describe these services as "just like email". But I think the one thing that is missing for that would be a proper #URI scheme and integration in browsers for things you can join or follow in these federated networks. Email has its established "mailto:foo@example.com" for instance.

"The Game", at last night at Amica Mutual Pavilion aka the Providence Civic Center aka Dunkin Donuts Center. kept it competitive for a while but unfortunately got blown out in the end by . Fun anthem from Todd Angilly and halftime show from Celtics dunk team.

This will always be treated like a rivalry even if PC owns the series. Rhody for life

Also since it's Mastodon...I really want to see Phish play here someday
