Ukrainian soldier:

”The minerals deal was a plan from US to secure rights in the country after Russia takes over”

But ”Without US aid, the frontline won’t collapse. Unreplacable dependence on american weapons is minimal.”

It is a drone war, and #Ukraine makes those themselves. They are the key weapon of this war.

They do need air #defence, and Starlink for communication. But US stopped aid 3 times allready, so they had contingency plans in action.

Trump signs executive order expanding power of Elon Musk’s Doge agency

Order calls for ‘transformation’ in US spending on contracts, grants and loans by requiring centralized payment system

The order instructs each agency’s Doge team lead to provide #monthly #reports on contracting activities,
including payment and travel justifications.

Agencies with Guns:
Law enforcement, the military, immigration agencies and national security-related activities
are excluded from the new requirements.

The order is part of a much broader effort by the White House to dramatically reduce the size of the federal workforce,
which the Trump administration has cast as an impediment to realizing his agenda.

On Wednesday, the Office of Management and Budget
and the Office of Personnel Management sent a seven-page memo
directing agency leaders to develop plans to implement
“large-scale reductions”
by 13 March, according to the Associated Press.

Most of the mastodon.social #botnet we recently confirmed is still intact.

Only the accounts we all reported were banned, while the others are still active.

The #reports specifically mentioned that they are part of a larger botnet, to no effect.

#Mastodon #software seems to be great at automatically detecting obvious botnets, like the first example while struggling with #AI generated, higher-quality profiles.

As a business intelligence professional, I have tons of good use cases for vector graphics in my work, but I've never really understood all the hype around Canva, especially since PowerPoint can already fulfill most of those use cases. I'm certainly no graphic artist or UI/UX designer, so maybe I'm not really their target demographic, but I know plenty of BI professionals who are *rabid* Canvangelists.

But those winds may be shifting, because Canva is *quadrupling* its license fees, and they're saying that the price hike is justified because they've added a bunch of AI features. 🤣

Did they actually ask their users if they even want AI features in the first place, and if so, how much they'd be willing to pay for them? Judging from the huge backlash about this policy change, I'm going out on a limb and guessing not.

Toot CaféBaldur Bjarnason (@baldur@toot.cafe)“Canva says its AI features are worth the 300 percent price increase - The Verge” https://www.theverge.com/2024/9/3/24234698/canva-price-increase-300-percent-ai-features Read through a few discussion threads where Canva customers were reacting to the price hike and, surprisingly, they didn't think AI features were a transformative revolution well worth 300% price hike. Terms like "useless" and "waste of time" were bandied about. I’m shocked, I tell you.
