Launched only 3 years after Mastodon 1.0 itself did, give or take.Over the last two years, it was clear to me as the owner and admin that it was growing and would either need to find some form of new structure to take it to the next level, or, in some way, artificially cap or even have to find ways to shrink ongoing growth. Something I did not wish to do.

I don't know thing 1 about how to #admin and #moderate an instance properly.

So all of this is to ask all-a- y'all if you know of any admin or moderator training materials that emphasize racial justice and anti-racism?

It doesn't have to be Mastodon specific. Likely the concepts will transfer even if they were written for message boards or whatever.

Message for #Pixelfed admins

Do any of you encounter the following? Every 6 hours and consistently, my pixelfed server goes into a high memory usage, process is php-fpm triggered by pixelfed, before being killed by oom. Clearly a bot, never happened before.

Now I changed server with a full fresh install and new IP but it still goes on (even changed OS from 22.04 to 24.04, bumped RAM from 16 to 32 GB and php8.3 version to 8.4).

Do you administrators see similar behavior? See attached Grafana/Prometheus dashboard for illustration on a 24-hours period.

Any clue on how to mitigate such DoS attacks?

Don't you just hate it when a professional health organisation has a self referral form that can be emailed in, but is a form in a word document that has been done by someone using 1950s manual typewriter methods for making a paper form?

Grrrrr, trying to reformat the document just so I can fill it in for Mum, without changing the appearance in case they won't accept it!

I have reproduced forms like this, in the past, properly formatted just so I could complete and submit them, but I am old and have limited numbers of years left in me!

Ich wollte einfach mal ein "Danke" loswerden.

Danke an all die Admins, die ihre Instanzen kostenfrei für andere User ins Netz stellen.

Dass ihr bei Problemen immer helft, euch darum kümmert.

Wer sich in Sachen IT usw. nicht auskennt, weiß vermutlich gar nicht, wie viel Zeit man teilweise in Sachen Wartung und Instandhaltung, aber auch Support investiert, um seine Instanz auf Vordermann zu halten und allen Usern gerecht zu werden.

Das ist nicht selbstverständlich.😉👍

Text from article: Overnight, Wired reported that, contrary to published reports that DOGE operatives at the Treasury Department are limited to “read only” access to department payment systems, this is not true. A 25-year-old DOGE operative named Marko Elez in fact has admin privileges on these critical systems, which directly control and pay out roughly 95% of payments made by the U.S. government, including Social Security checks, tax refunds and virtually all contract payments. I can independently confirm these details based on conversations going back to the weekend. I can further report that Elez not only has full access to these systems, he has already made extensive changes to the code base for these critical payment system.
