This week's #52WochenFotoChallenge was not easy: #clouds

It has been gray and foggy here for two weeks; found a brief moment of non-fog earlier this week. Though the drama comes from post-processing for contrast, exposure and saturation; in reality the sky was grayish with less contrast.

I very much love long-distance train travel. It is a chance to sit and read a book while watching the landscape pass by; I have very little train travel planned, and would really like to plan a trip to somewhere far, far away by train...

Thinking about these floods in #Valencia, a city I very nearly lived in, and looming massieve cuts to #HigherEd in the Netherlands by our far-right government, just about had me give up on humanity. But visiting the Alhambra filled me with quiet hope.

We as humanity *can* create stunningly beatiful things and keep them for a thousand years. And people visit there genuinely interested in its history.

I spent this week in southern Spain, where both to the east and south massieve floods caused incomprehensable loss of life and livelihood. It has been disconcerting how life just goes on, even at this close proximity, and how little one hears about this (inter)national crisis as a visitor.

This is not a critique of #Spain specifically, we had a similar reaction in northern NL to the recent floods in southern NL, BE and DE.
