You enjoyed the Week of Non-Binary Awareness and learned so much about our culture and practices, but now it's Friday 14 July, the Day where all People are Non-Binary!
You have twenty-four hours to try out the many skills you have learned.
Shave a random part of your hair for the first time!
Wear clothes with garish patterns! If you didn't obtain some during the op-shop tour on Awareness day two, borrow something from one of your partners!
Be overly indecisive about trivial decisions such as picking out a dessert at the corner cafe while there is a line behind you!
Give a random noun as the name for your coffee order to test how hearing it makes you feel!
Over-commit yourself tonight by RSVPing to a friend's 'birthday party' (actually their HRT anniversary), a meeting run by the local trans group who are organising a protest for tomorrow, and a dance party with a theme that is so vague that it inspires you to be creative and construct your own outfit this afternoon out of materials you had laying around and clothes you have not previously matched together!
Somehow attend all three events, and volunteer to take up a lead orginsational role at tomorrow's rally.
Today is the most important day on the non-binary calendar, but tomorrow may be the most important for you! Reflect on all that has happened, and how it felt taking off the metaphorical costume and putting on the new, haphazardly constructed one.
Consider if this just a fun thing to do every year, or if this may be for you long-term.
Have a great day, and make yourself comfortable!
