I have been warning both friends and family about this, and advising them to ditch mains grid ASAP & behold:
#Pakistan effectively abandons #NetMetering to 'cope' with #Rooftop #solar revolution
https://www.dawn.com/news/1897740/solar-users-face-higher-costs-as-policy-revised
Net-billing axed, electricity purchases from solar prosumers capped at roughly a FIFTH of what they sold from the grid, full sales tax (GST) + surcharges irrespective of net consumption, no tax refunds
This is so stupid lol
This cold winter, with all these polar vortex incursions, is costly even for an efficient home. Approx $500 a month would be spent on electricity if it weren't for solar and net-metering.
The strongest vortex of the year is starting today, with below 0f expected. I bet we approach $30 per day this week.
Factories employing their own power plants alongside grid connections will have to play "equalized" rates to compensate for the low uptake of mains electricity
People wanting net-metering now have to pay monthly charges for the privilege, and are considered competition
#Pakistan grid is losing customers (and payments) fast, and this is adding immense pressure on all producers

As I hv alluded to, #Pakistan s grid is inching to collapse and the people in charge are frantically trying to keep it afloat rather than make it adapt.

9-14K MW of demand (15-35% of national capacity depending on the season) has disappeared in less than 12 months thanks to solar!

Winter is fully here in Maryland. The heat pumps have been running continuously for hours. It's 18f outside, and will get much colder with the vortex. 6-8 inches of snow tomorrow will cover the solar, so we'll be operating off our banked kWh with the utility, of which 4MWh remains. Thankful we have that much since I don't expect the solar to melt off for a week or more. If I really had to I guess I could find a teenager to broom off the ground mounts #solar #winter #renewables #Netmetering

· Direct the PSC to undertake a "Cost of Service Study" for net metering customers. Rather than a "cost benefit analysis" this study would only let the PSC study the costs associated with net-metering and not allow them to factor in the myriad of benefits that net metering has on the grid and for customers. This cost of service study would then be used to justify rates and fees charged to net metering customers.
Montanans: Action Needed by 5 pm today
"HB 643, sponsored by Rep. Josh Kassmier (R- Fort Benton) is a bad bill that would make going solar burdensome and financially unfeasible in Montana.
HB643 would:
· Put net metering customers is a separate customer class and thereby allow the Public Service Commission to set a new rate for net metering customers and charge fees and other costs that won't be charged to other residential customers.
HB 643 - Tell House Energy that Montanans should not be punished for generating their own electricity
