[Edit: solved] The Google Play Store broke something while trying to update @moshidon even though it was installed through F-Droid, which broke the app and the ntfy notification setup I had implemented. Had to uninstall Moshidon from scratch, but with ntfy or not, now no notifications come through.
Google is always messing with things it shouldn't, why? How can I solve this? Anyone? Thank you in advance.

[Edit: solved in the most unusual way, see ciberlandia.pt/@jt_rebelo/1145 ]

CiberlândiaJoão Tiago Rebelo (NAFO J-121) (@jt_rebelo@ciberlandia.pt)@moshidon@floss.social thank you. After changing at least 12 times between ntfy and gCompat as unifiedPush servers, notifications are finally working again! There was something left hanging in Android that not even a cache wipe solved, and some of those reconnections let loose again. If this happens to you, now you know!

Lately I get these error messages a lot more frequently.

Sometimes when I search for a keyword and when I compose a toot with hashtags the autocomplete simply stop working the onlything that happens it gives the following error message:
"http failure response for hachyderm.io/api/v2/search/q=s: 500 internal server error"

I can't view sometimes my own account and I get the following error message:
"account couldn't be found."

A really weird thing happened. :mastodon_oops:
One of the notifications in my Notifications was edited by the OP that is completely empty, probably it was a toot that I boosted previously.
I don't get how this notification totally broke two of my Mastodon clients, Sengi and tut in a totally different but really annoying way.

Yeah, the Phanpy designers really know how to get the main user interface issues right.

The threading support is important.

For me, the way the "carousel" takes boosts out of the main timeline whilst keeping them immediately accessible is ideal, it just feels so natural and gives me a non-obtrusive choice between seeing boosts and ignoring them. So elegant.

I'm still mostly with Semaphore and Fedilab on my Android phone, but Phanpy is just right.

I'm a "let's push this button and see what happens" person, so I've tried most #web-based and #iOS #MastodonClients.

I found the #Elk (@elk) #alpha #WebClient yesterday, and thus far, I love it. It has a twitter-like feel, and I can hover over a name, view their bio and follow with ease.

It's a neat, clean, bright, comfortable #interface.

I can't wait to see what features appear next!

ElkElkA nimble Mastodon web client

Just installed the latest #icecubes @icecubesapp update for iOS on my iPad & it has many significant improvements over the version from a couple weeks ago. It is by far my preferred Mastodon client now. I tried Ivory, which was slick & looked promising but the free trial version was crippled (it can’t even post!) & I’m definitely not signing up for a subscription model app unless I can try it fully first.

I’m still using Tusky on my android phone, & that works very well.

After spending a week with it, I think it’s safe to say I like @MonaApp better than @ivory, at least for the time being. The customizability is incredible and I’m super happy with how I’ve got all my actions set up and the color schemes I’ve made for day and night (see screenshots).

The full screen mode which happens when you scroll just pushes it over the top. I don’t know if I can be happy without it again.

The one feature that I’m really missing (which neither app has right now) is the ability to save and browse other instances’ local timelines and then interact from your account. Still have to use @tootapp for that particular feature. (And I do love its implementation there!)

There’s a lot to like about Ivory, Ice Cubes, and Tusker. As well as for a number of the web apps.

But so far, as far as I know, the only two iOS clients that support both manual load of the timeline, and browsing the timeline up *or* down...and filling in the gaps as you go, are #TootApp and #MammothApp. And while I love Toot!’s image handling, it really needs a tighter UI; it’s too many clicks and page changes to perform common actions like “share”.

So until some other app lets me load the most recent posts and then work my way backwards, I’m sticking with Mammoth.

P.S. If you want to try a *completely* different UI, check out Trunk. You scroll the timeline *sideways*. The current screen has the post and replies on it, which you can scroll up and down. It doesn’t feel like it scales to me, since you have to swipe every single post. But it’s an interesting idea.

Overall I like #Toot! better than #Metatext. Not that Metatext is bad, it’s great!

If it wasn’t for Lists I’d pick Metatext as it’s one less tap to start a message. But Toot! has less taps to switch lists and I do reading more than writing, so being able to switch more easily is a bigger advantage to me.

That said they’re both great. And Metatext is free, while Toot! costs money, but I don’t mind paying developers.
