My employer, after 7 months of work, fired me overnight. Because I would be too "finicky" about code quality and security risks, which would better suit "a bank or cybersecurity company".

So I'm again #lookingForJob, either at #Montpellier (France) or #fullRemote. I am a #fullStack #developer with almost 10 years of experience on #php, #symfony, #html, #css, #javascript (#jquery and I'm also learning #vue). I am fluent in English, both written and spoken.

I have the opportunity to do a redesign of a very large site that I built about 5 years ago and have maintained since. Looking to brush up on the newer #CSS / #JS that’s available to me for #frontend. The current site was built with #JQuery and #flexbox was not even an option at the time. Would love to move to #vanillaJS for most things and get the most out of flexbox that I can.

Looking for good resources, if anyone knows of any.

Finally getting around to learning #React. It's pretty nifty, but also makes me sad how many layers of abstraction we have now in #web dev. Back when the equivalent was #jQuery, I could take students with no experience up to the point of being able to do some pretty cool stuff. Implementing the same things with React requires more programming know-how, along with setting up a fairly intricate dev environment — stuff like npm and vite that are anxiety-inducing for students with no CLI exposure.

@slightlyoff Out of curiousity…

My workplace uses #React. I gave it a try with one project to get to know it, and while it does reduce a lot of #JavaScript boiler plate, I have found it clunky to deal with.

I've written bare-bones JS for manipulating the DOM… it's tedious. github.com/sjlongland/js-calen just uses the browser DOM functions directly.

Prior to that, we were using #AngularJS (v1, never graduated from that). I never used it enough to really get to know how it worked.

The only other framework I've come anywhere near recently is #JQuery -- in the context of the #NodeRED UI.

Is there an alternate framework one should be looking more closely at?

#jQuery でもう出来ちゃってて今更イマドキなフレームワークでコンポーネント化なんてやってられんっていうやつこそ #RiotJS でサクッと jQuery 依存のコードごとコンポーネント化したさはある :tony_normal:

This is my #introduction post. I definitely did not make any posts before this.

- He/him
- I enjoy #cooking a lot.
- I'm a #SoftwareEngineer doing #webdev and #mobiledev (#JavaScript, #JQuery, #ColdFusion, #MySQL, #MSSQL, #Flutter, #Dart).
- I like #manga, #anime, and #manhwa, #DnD, #MagicTheGathering, #EDH, #Wildermyth, #LeagueOfLegends (but ARAM shenanigans only!)
- Eclectic music tastes.
- Recognizes the benefits of going outside but struggles to do so.
- I write lists often.

I moved servers, so here's an #Introduction:

I'm a #Python / #Java #SoftwareEngineer by day, but after that I interact with a lot of #FOSS and other #OpenSource projects.

I maintain and own #Select2, the #JavaScript library that I joke is keeping #jQuery alive. I'm also a maintainer on #DjangoRestFramework and #Jinja2 but I'll admit I do less with them now that I don't use #Django for work.

I have a lot of #HomeAutomation projects that make heavy use of #HomeAssistant (#ESPHome, #ZigBee).
