Josh BraunFinally getting around to learning <a href="https://sciences.social/tags/React" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#React</a>. It's pretty nifty, but also makes me sad how many layers of abstraction we have now in <a href="https://sciences.social/tags/web" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#web</a> dev. Back when the equivalent was <a href="https://sciences.social/tags/jQuery" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#jQuery</a>, I could take students with no experience up to the point of being able to do some pretty cool stuff. Implementing the same things with React requires more programming know-how, along with setting up a fairly intricate dev environment — stuff like npm and vite that are anxiety-inducing for students with no CLI exposure.

I never used it enough to really get to know how it worked.The only other framework I've come anywhere near recently is <a href="https://mastodon.longlandclan.id.au/tags/JQuery" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#JQuery</a> -- in the context of the <a href="https://mastodon.longlandclan.id.au/tags/NodeRED" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#NodeRED</a> UI.Is there an alternate framework one should be looking more closely at?
