#Accessibility hive mind, I have some questions about #ChromeVox as well as #Chromebook accessibility & #usability in general. I'm working with a #PixelBook that has never been used. ChromeVox is telling me to use commands involving the search key as a modifier, but these seem not to work as any use of the search key invokes #Google #Gemini. What's going on here? Additionally, how are #blind people using #Chromebooks? In what tasks do they excel. In what tasks do they fall short? Any input and/or information would be greatly appreciated.

- I live with my mom and stepdad, who are my caregivers
- I have a Miniature Pinscher named Squeaker
- Currently studying programming on freeCodeCamp.org and codecademy.com and Braille proofreading through the NFB

I'm passionate about #accessibility and creating a more inclusive digital world. I run online groups for people with multiple disabilities and am active in the #DisabilityCommunity.

Some of my #health conditions include occipital neuralgia, intracranial hypertension, Empty Sella Syndrome, fibromyalgia, hidradenitis suppurativa, GERD, gastroparesis, IBS, sleep apnea, migraines, and non-24-hour sleep-wake disorder.

I use various devices to navigate the digital world, including a Windows computer, iPhone, Android tablet, Fire TV, Echo Dot, Apple Watch, wireless headphones, and a Braille display. #AssistiveTechnology

one of my real pain points with the iPhone is composing emails using the built-in mail app with #voiceover. It’s got slightly better with iOS 18, but the Misspelt Words option in the rotor still does not work. This might not be an issue for some, but for me I cannot send emails on the phone with confidence that it is written accurately and looks professional. I know there's the option of writing it in the Notes app, reviewing it and then pasting it into Mail, but come on! That's such a clunky workaround.

Is Mail any better on the iPad at all? I would quite like something that is an in between device to a laptop and a phone that I could use to quickly write emails, make additions to documents, write quick notes etc, and in that sense the iPad could be a nice fit, but if iPadOS has the same issues as the iOS versions then meh, it might not add much for me. Any thoughts?

Ok #BlindMastodon, I’m currently working on a #WordPress site and cannot for the life of me get to grips with editing the global elements of the site i.e. header, navigation menu, footer etc using the #Gutenberg editor. Any tips or tutorials on this? I’m ok with editing posts and pages, it's the site appearance itself that I’m really struggling with. I’m using #NVDA, Edge and Windows 11.
