new on my blog: A fun art journal experiment
A simple and very fun exercise to fill your art journal with.

I remembered my Kofi account, here's some cats!
Quickly sketching a small messy and cluttered shelf before I go in and tidy it up.
I find it relaxing to do this, it takes me out of my head and places me in the present moment. I’m trying to practice relative size (which I’m getting better at) and accurately recording perspective (which I’m still so abysmal at I’m wondering if I should take a class, lol!).
Where are my mixed media arts friends. Anyone here from Wanderlust UK or Messy Art? Anyone living in France?
Here are a couple pics from my first go at making eco dyes: dandelion, coffee and cabbage. So fun.

Jaime and I had our regular brunch today and as usual I added to the "brunch book", a homemade sketchbook where I sketch a page while we talk. Today it was the french press on my table holding our first pot of tea. Haven't painted this yet, she just left and I'm trying to decide on colors.
Highly recommend getting into a regular social habit with a friend if you can manage it. It REALLY helps the despair.
This weekend was "drawing pets from reddit weekend".
And learning animation on Blender, but I cried real tears doing that so I don't want to share what I did (yet) lol
A new public journal post. My pilgrimage to the ocean.
I can't stop starting new art journals.
I might have a problem.
My #scrollBook advances ... I love the effects of the variegated embroidery thread. I love the stories and thoughts stitched into the fabric. And working on it is a perfect thought cleanser. A textile #Artjournal ... @embroidery @textilearts @fibrearts @fiberarts
I've been dutifully adding layers into my art journal today, and feeling like it's so hard to judge how my art is progressing because of the million different directions it feels like it's going.
I'm choosing to trust the chaotic process and seeing where it leads me.
More board book art journal layers, thought the movement of this one was really fun though, I'm concerned I'm adding too much texture.
Collaging another first layer in one of my board books. It looks so raw and full of possibility in this phase!
This first layer for another spread in my art journal seems full of possibility... but I've got to wait for it to dry!
I think I need to get a few more board books...
I wasn't exactly setting out to make a collage page in my art journal this evening, but I grabbed the gloss medium tube instead of the unbleached titanium one and here we are.
Starting a new art journal today repurposing a children's board book as the substrate. I love me a thrifted material to work with!
Another layer on yesterday's journal page, perhaps an exasperated ode to my self critic?
Y R U like this!?
I've gone a different direction for today's art journal page, and I'm sure this isn't done, it's just all I've done so far...
Remembering that sometimes, it's less about perfect process and more about piecing things together for yourself. Sometimes a glue stick and a magazine will help you figure it out.
Today's art journal page with watercolor crayons, white acrylic paint and a black Posca paint pen.
Scribbling is probably my top mark making technique when I don't know what else to do and I just need to do something.
