Ofege – Try and Love (1973)

amf.didiermary.fr/ofege-try-lo

The first time a group of teenagers snuck out of St. Gregory’s College in Lagos to audition at a recording studio, they were told to go back and focus on their studies. But they didn’t give up. In the early 1970s, the group, including Melvin Ukachi, Paul Alade, Dapo Olumide, and M-Ike Meme, formed Ofege. […]

People Are Using AI Chatbots to Guide Their Psychedelic Trips

> #Psychedelic #therapy is incredibly effective but it’s hard to do alone,” says Dylan Beynon, founder and CEO of #Mindbloom, which has mailed #ketamine lozenges, to almost 60,000 people across the US since 2020, according to the company. “That’s why we’re building an #AI #copilot that helps clients heal faster and go deeper”

Born Ruffians - Beauty’s Pride

Named after a bicycle (of course), this new LP hasn’t gotten the attention it deserves, at least here in the states (they’re Canadian).

Born Ruffians have put out tons of good music, and this album is tilting a bit more psychedelic/synth than previous, more indie/guitar sounding records. It sounds a bit joyful, likely due to the birth of guitarist/chief songwriter LaLonde’s child… overall a great effort.

American chemist Jonathan Ott, who died on July 5th at 76, was a pioneering psychonaut. He coined “entheogen” and championed consciousness-altering plants like jurema-preta.
A disciple of Schultes and Hofmann, he blended rigorous research with personal experimentation, profoundly influencing psychedelic studies and advocating for their spiritual and ecological significance. We honor his memory 🙏

Are you into the later, #psychedelic #Beatles? Then listen to one of my lifetime favourite albums: The Olivia Tremor Control's "Music from the Unrealized Film Script: Dusk at Cubist Castle" (1996). It sounds like both of the main songwriters *love* the Beatles, but one thinks "She Said She Said" is their best song, while the other thinks "Revolution Number 9" is the best.

Naked performers covered in paint roll around atop dirt and foliage. Menacing sculptures hang from the ceiling and walls. The costumes have a beastly quality. At one point, a stream of feathers are strewn across the stage; at another, pink petals float down from above. This is Trance, an immersive #psychedelic experience inspired by an eclectic mix of influences from electronic music and rave culture to Buddhism, cartoons and Japanese Butoh dance theatre.
