In honor of Women's History Month, here is silent screen star Mary Pickford with a small dog and some kittens. This is a French postcard and it dates from the 1910s.

River Tamar at Danescombe Valley
The Tamar defines the boundary between Devon and Cornwall for most of its length. At Danescombe, upstream from Cotehele Quay and downstream from Calstock on the Cornish side, there's what was the Ashburton Hotel (now Danescombe House) and a small boatyard and quay below. The valley itself is wooded on the north side, though once a hive of mining industry, with market gardening on the south.
