#Today, May 14, #Oxford's unique #Cowley #Orchestra is doing a special feature evening again. This time the focus is on Louise #Farrenc's 3rd symphony in G minor. We will be supported by a few people who have played this work at a one-day workshop last year. All players of orchestral instruments welcome, participation free of charge for this once. #violins especially welcome as we're often short of those. Here's the piece, played by a different orchestra: youtube.com/watch?v=D6MaC53l6p4

"Mr. Sandman" (or "Mister Sandman") is a #popularSong written by #PatBallard and published in 1954. It was first recorded in May of that year by #VaughnMonroe and his #orchestra and later that year by #TheChordettes and #theFourAces. The song's lyrics convey a request to "#MrSandman" to "bring me a dream" – the traditional association of the #folkloric figure (but in this context the meaning of dream is more akin to '#dreamboat').
