I picked up a Hawaiian dog from The Hot Dog Guys in Tillicum Mall, on my way home from work, today. It was really good. I got some of their yummy pineapple dolewhip dessert too.
They started out their local small business from a food truck. They still operate a food truck in the Langford area.

@GrimmReality I prefer anything sour on my #hotdog. Usually sauerkraut, but kimchi is also good (many varieties) and sour pickle relish are my go to.
Final tastiness also depends on the hotdog itself: types and mixtures of meat (beef, pork, veal, boar, bison, turkey, venison, elk), fat content (% and type), spices, and casing. The bun is crucial as well: without the right kind of bun you cannot safely add many toppings without a mess.
Hotdogs are a cuisine unto themselves.

I'll disagree that they will never make a tasty plant based hot dog only because we never know what some food chemist will invent to improve it.
But I do a agree that the current version of plant based dogs is the stuff of nightmares. Give me a Nathan's or Hebrew National dog, they are a little bit of heaven on Earth.
