I'm developing a program that explores tradition, creativity, control, power, and beauty, through the lens of paper airplanes. I'm looking for groups in Japan or the Netherlands but can travel anywhere.

These programs are free but I would like to take pictures and videos. Ideally, each company would also identify a local at-risk group for a science-themed program.

DM me if your company or organization would like to participate. Thank you.

Unwind and #weave -> #InvasiveIvy removal and #BasketMaking. Combo of #environmental #volunteer #workparty & #learn some #weaving with #InvasiveSpecies 👍

Wed, Jul 9, 2025 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM
Renfrew Ravine Park | Meet at Renfrew Ravine Labyrinth.

"Join Still Moon for another round of basket weaving and stewardship at the Mid Ravine site! We’ve removed nearly 80% of the English ivy ground cover and are aiming to complete or come close to finishing it during this session. We'll spend the first hour and a half removing ivy and other invasive species, followed by an hour of relaxing basket weaving. Come lend a hand in caring for this special site—and take home a handmade basket! We'll return in the fall to plant a rich mix of native species."

This site has both flat and sloped areas, and is accessed by a flat path, there is something for everyone to do here! If you need help getting to the site, or have other questions about accessibility, please email connelly@stillmoonarts.ca.

The Initiative works to engage community members throughout what is currently known as the Lower Mainland of BC, delivering a series of workshops on Invasive Species-based #art supplies and other useable materials in collaboration with non-for-profits and local volunteer groups.The traveling project was established in late 2021, aiming for ethical and reciprocal engagements within the often-destructive practices of invasive removal, offering use for the materiality of the plants that would otherwise go to waste.Promoting dialogues on "environment", colonization and human exceptionalism, the project works with organizations in offering demonstrations and talks on re-contextualizing social imaginations in relationship with so-called Invasive Species.

15 NH schools awarded #HydroponicGardens

NH Department of Education, Dec 2, 2024

"The New Hampshire Department of Education has awarded 15 hydroponic gardens to local schools in an effort to expand hands-on learning, offer new scientific opportunities and support STEM initiatives in classrooms statewide.

"The Department of Education is hosting a pilot program for the use of hydroponics in schools, which includes the distribution of 15 Flex Farm units from Fork Farms, as well as a limited supply of seeds, a grower toolkit and a K-12 curriculum package. Technical support and training will be provided to school professionals to ensure success of the pilot program.

"'It is our hope that the hydroponic gardens will become a unique teaching tool that inspires students and cultivates learning. Not only will this be a rewarding experience for children, but it will also help to promote healthy nutrition and fresh produce within our schools,' said Kelly Rambeau, administrator for the Department of Education’s Bureau of Wellness and Nutrition."

[...]

“It seems like a small thing, but I am hopeful these grants will help provide students with fresh and nutritious produce and help them develop an appreciation for quality food in their lives,' said Frank Edelblut, state education commissioner.

"School districts were required to provide details about their implementation strategy when expressing interest in the pilot program. Each indoor growing flex farm uses hydroponic technology and can grow more than 394 pounds of produce each year. Each unit has 288 plant spaces and comes with a fully self-contained water system, energy efficient LED light tower, submersible pump, grower toolkit and starter supply box.

"'Fork Farms is very excited to be partnered with NHED to bring Flex Farms to more schools in New Hampshire. We believe connecting students with their food results in long-lasting healthy choices, as well as engaging, hands-on learning,' said Sam Malesa of Fork Farms. 'By integrating Flex Farms into classrooms, we aim to inspire the next generation of leaders to think critically about sustainability, nutrition and the future of food.'"

So, this was my favorite toy growing up... A "160-in-One" Electronics Kit from #RadioShack. The kit had instructions on how to build a simple, low-powered broadcast radio (and I, of course, had cut off the jack of a microphone cord, which I stripped and added as an sound input). Not satisfied with the range of my "pirate radio station," I added a few extra capacitors, used a stainless steel window screen as an antenna, and soon the neighbors were complaining to my grandparents. Mission accomplished!
