We have an annual general meeting on Tue. We need to decide which builder will do the roof renovation. I barely have time to visit my parents and then I need to travel back #home. And, I need to find a company for a roof repair work in the terraced house where my mother lives, and I know nothing about that kind of work. My husband has a doctor’s appointment on Monday. He’s going through his wallet now to make sure he has his insurance card and ID. He’ll hold up a card and say… that’s the insurance card right? Alzheimer’s sucks. We’re beginning to get into the repeating phase.

800 kilometres #yestarday on the #road (497 miles) I drove to my #home village and took my #father to the #hospital and back, then visited my #mother and drove back home. My ex has corona so he couldn't pick up cats. So I had to drive all the kilometres on the same day. In the evening my cats and I went for a #walk and it was #relaxing. What a day #yesterday. I drove 3 hours to Lappeenranta, spent 3 hours in the #hospital with my mother and drove 3 hours #home. My mother has #alzheimers and vascular #dementia. First my #father, who lives in a nursing home, and now my #mother. I am so tired right now and have a headache. But life goes on. We will celebrate my mother's 85th #birthday next week. #alzheimerssucks #today #suomimastodon #finland

Yesterday after work I drove to East #finland with a rental car. (That was the first time I drove this year.) There was a car accident on the road, and a traffic jam. We got heavy rain.. I got lost once. Once the navigator said the road was blocked but it wasn't. But I did it and #today I saw my #parents. #AlzheimersSucks I haven't told you but my mother has #dementia now as well. #suomimastodon #roadtrip

@Caiotekit I have thought of small anecdotes from this book over and over. When you are the caregiver it’s hard to see how you are being lead into some feelings, confusion and upset just by how your own brain reacts to another’s dysfunction. I’d buy and read it in a heartbeat. We’re going through a phase where son broke 2 pairs of his glasses in less than hour. He also tried to rip out the electric cable on a recliner. Unwary caregiver was lucky to pry Drew’s iron grip fist clutching his wired ear buds that were dangling. Fun stuff, eh?

#Greetings from a train to Joensuu. I'm on my way to my #home village Simpele. The purpose is to put Christmas curtains into my #mother's kitchen and some #Christmas lights in her living room. I will also go to see my #father in the nursing home. #alzheimerssucks. Tomorrow I will heat my mother a #sauna. I will travel back home on Sunday and my #cats Sanni and Siiri will come home on Monday. What are your plans for this #weekend?!

My father disappeared for two hours today and someone in their village returned him home by car. It's good that everyone there knows each other so they know where to bring dad. Now he has a locked GPS in his arm and only nurses have the key. #AlzheimersSucks #alzheimers #alzheimersdisease

He said he wanted to see the person who took him there and he wanted to know what had been done to him. This was the first time he didn't know who I was. (I call him every day and I think that has kept me in his memory until now.) #suomimaston #finland

I feel #sad today. My #father didn't know how to speak on the phone with me today. This has happened twice now. He lives 320 kilometers away from me. #alzheimerssucks
