Was feeling this morning like we've been neglecting the community allotment this year. We've been short staffed and some of our regular volunteers have been unwell. I had a lovely afternoon down there potting up many things that had self seeded accompanied by lots of buzzing bees loving the lungwort and honey berry flowers. Now have many pots of strawberries, chives, foxgloves to pass on and lots of things are growing happily so all ok. #gardening #permaculture #Allotment #AllotmentLife
Got given a batch of very old fruit and veg seeds and done some germination testing (most have 50 - 70% germination rates which is pretty good). Thought I'd just plant these globe artichoke seeds and give them a try. Seeds are allegedly best sown before 2017. I soaked them for a few days in water and then put in a covered seed tray in my car to act as a mini greenhouse. 2 weeks later half have come up. It really does annoy me the hype from seed sellers that you must use new seeds - it is true for some veg but for most things it really isn't! For anyone concerned about where I'm going to plant a dozen globe artichokes which will grow into enormous plants.. will give most away through our #CommunityFridge and keep one. #permaculture #GrowYourOwn #Allotment #AllotmentLife
Nature is amazing. Planted some agretti which is a sort of Italian samphire two years ago. Nothing happened at all and just assumed it was too wet and cold to do anything. Just been to the allotment and discovered several clumps of small but very healthy looking agretti. Some chives in the same bed coming up too but this is definitely agretti. #permaculture #allotmentlife #growing #gardening #HeritageSeeds
Hooray! After 4 years on the waiting list we have an #allotment and it is really lovely. We are fortunate that the previous tenants have left a quirky shed, a large fruit cage and a well structured plot. It's going to need lots of organic matter as it doesn't look particularly well cultivated and there's a fair amount of wasted space. Looking forward to putting our stamp on it. It is 5 minutes from home and near a national cycle route. #foodgrowing #slowliving #selfsufficiency #allotmentlife

The process of identifying apples I find strangely intriguing, so that some days I spend considerable time on it, but also extremely frustrating... ie I certainly knew that apples, ripening in storage, change colour, but that a red apple would basically become a golden one? That I had not forseen. However, it made me realise what they mean when they say the hue of overcolour can be brown... fruitid.com remains an amazing tool #fruit #allotmentlife #apples #earlyautumn #horticulture
Just look at that magnificent brush! I can just imagine how cosy my little mate will be curled up in her den with her nose tucked in.
As the growing season comes to a close I will be posting random photos of scenes from the allotment site, insects plants and stuff. #AllotmentLife
I'd love to see pics from your allotment or garden to see me through winter.
A bunch of flowers from the allotment, freshly picked and full of vibrant colors —just the thing to brighten anyone’s day! Nature’s beauty has a way of lifting spirits, one petal at a time.

Damp morning on the #allotment but lovely to see several varieties of #bee on our perennial #sunflowers. Some were very lively and some looked like they were still drying out after last night's torrential rain. #permacuture #bloomscrolling #allotmentlife
Just harvested a bumper crop of fresh raspberries from the allotment! There's nothing quite like the taste of homegrown fruit. Time to whip up one of our favorites! #Homegrown #RaspberrySeason #AllotmentLife #FreshProduce
Excellent news from the plot (@BroadforkForVictory). Management seems ok after I shared a brochure on what I am trying to do that I had prepared for the open day. They had some concerns on my reuse of compost bags, but asked me to explain, so I did: they are perfect to accelerate rotting of noxious weeds (except bindweed, which I drown in the butt for liquid feed). Every winter I empty the compost out and get rid of those bags that have started to degrade. #allotmentlife
Our peas are thriving beautifully this season. Lush green vines and plump pods are a testament to our hard work and nature’s magic. Can’t wait to harvest and enjoy these garden-fresh peas. Stay tuned for more green goodness! #GardeningJoy #AllotmentLife

Spent a hot, busy day in the allotment today! Decided it was the perfect time to mend the shed roof & build a new potting bench under the apple tree
. Now I can enjoy some shade while working on my plants. Feeling accomplished! #AllotmentLife #Gardening #DIY
All the seedlings I planted, nothing is left. The plot is an impenetrable jungle, today is inspection day and I am feeling really rather unwell and demoralised. I cannot even enjoy the beauty and the beasties... so I'll leave it for you #allotmentlife #latespring
Spring is definitely in the air today! Caught some photos of a bumble bee investigating the newly arisen snowdrops at the allotment. The beauty of nature never ceases to amaze. #allotmentlife #bumblebee #snowdrops
Not many people use it, but the Drag to Select tool is useful for selecting multiple items in VegPlotter. You can also duplicate (copy & paste) multiply beds and structures to create a garden plan in a super quick time. #gardenplan #vegetablegardening #allotmentlife
Allotment greenhouse repair underway!
We've been replacing the broken panes on our greenhouse. It's a bit of a job, but it'll be worth it to keep our plants warm and cosy through the winter. Just needs a bit of a clean down.
