View from the Zugspitze in the Direction of Munich, Germany
Blick von der Zugspitze Richtung München
A view from the Zugspitze over the Alps

Alright fine, I didn't just take #ShittyCameraChallenge shots when visiting the alps.
I did bring #TeXpan for the hike too.

#GarmischPartenkirchen, #Germany - A total of 29 mountaineers were rescued at the #Zugspitze on Saturday. In the afternoon and early evening, the mountain rescue team brought the mountaineers safely to the Sonnalpin glacier restaurant on Zugspitzplatt.
#Germany - severe weather > Mountaineering group with 26 people stuck near the #Zugspitze
Constant #rain in the valley, massive #snowfall in the mountains: This was the fate of a group of 26 mountaineers. Despite the extreme snowfall, they wanted to climb the Zugspitze. The group is stuck a few hundred meters below the #Sonnalpin.
In the last few hours alone, 60 cm / 24 inches of #snow has fallen on the Zugspitze, and in some cases the snow masses have piled up to two meters (6 ft).
Several mountain rescue teams went out to look for the mountaineers in the drifting snow.
Otherworldly light, layers and scenery in the upper Höllental (Hell's Valley)
The (Un)Bearable Remoteness of Being on a #WildWednesday
So very much in love with this place, the memories of the adventure to reach it (through snow till my hips) and these textures. Like abstract paintings. The snow exposing features in the landscape invisible in summer. Pictures taken almost two years ago, forming a diptych panorama...
A day in the mountains feels like a week in the low lands...
#SilentSunday double-take: The Wetterstein massif before sunset, from left to right: Hochblassen, Alpspitze, #Zugspitze
Today, wIth the first proper snow again at the #Zugspitze (Germany's tallest mountain), here's a view of it from early spring... it's the peak furthest in the distance...
Just got back from my second time doing our epic #Höllental walk (1600 elevation meters) near #Zugspitze… so varied, so beautiful, so unforgettable!
Even though not all #webcams can be as stunning as the ones installed at the #Zugspitze (Germany's highest peak, 2962m), I wish more of them would have an as generally useful UI for browsing a long archive (2 years in 10min & 30min intervals, incl. long exposure night shots) and also at least half the resolution of those cams, i.e. not just some cheap junk CCTV cams...
