Okay y'all, I hit the jackpot again! So I have the OnePlus 13 phone, and Earfun wireless earbuds. So I was trying surround sound playback on the AAC Multichannel Playback Test page from Fraunhoffer, and while the OReality audio doesn't use the surround sound channels, the Spatial Audio option does! So yeah, while the OnePlus doesn't have Dolby Atmos, it does support surround sound emulation. Lets see an iPhone do that! :)

I'm listening to the #AppleMusic #Jazz #SpatialAudio #playlist on my decent (for the 2021 price of $130) #Logitech #Z623 #THX-certified #speakers, with equalizer off, and the sound stage extends about a foot beyond each speaker.

The placement of each instrument is better than my #Bose 700 #headphones (I overpaid, badly, four years ago - $600).

Not even my #4K #UHD discs or #DolbyAtmos content on #DisneyPlus place sounds so well.

Now I really want the #NakamichiDragon 11.4.6 "#soundbar"

After a lot of tinkering with #USBC -> #HDMI adapters, cables and devices that didn't work I figured out the cable type that properly emits #DolbyAtmos streams from #iOS and #iPadOS devices. I really didn't want to purchase a (bunch of) Apple TV 4K unit(s) _just_ to get #SpatialAudio from #AppleMusic, given that just about every "smart" home theater component these days comes with all the same apps, but minus Apple Music.

I should start mixing podcasts for #SpatialAudio. Mono is so 1963. You'd never know where me or @joeldrapper would come from next!

I'm looking at #DolbyAtmos music production with an actual 7.1.2 speaker setup and it looks like not only cost is unacceptable for bedroom producers, and the space requirements are rather ridiculous, but also there isn't even a clear answer to "what audio interface and monitors to buy?".

So looks like the only option for hobbyists like me is to get #Apple AirPods Max and simulate the environment with its head tracking capabilities and Logic Pro.
