Hey #SiriShortcuts folks: Here’s an interesting thread of people sharing custom shortcuts they’ve built to do all kinds of unique things.

A standout for me: A woman has seizures. So her husband built a shortcut for her phone that texts her GPS location to him, a message that says “I’m having a seizure,” and begins an audio recording for 20 minutes so they can log how long it lasts for her medical records. 🤯 #Apple #Shortcuts

Oh man! Gotta be careful when creating Shortcuts that add entries to the Health app. I just made an entry that gave me an exercise that burned over 200,000 calories for the day.

Thankfully I was able to delete the entry from the Heath app, but I don’t know if all those unearned badges will go away or not. #sirishortcuts #shortcutsapp #ios

iOS 17.1 brings some brand new Shortcuts bugs, including a bug with legibility blur in the set wallpaper action, and earlier I had to reboot as a Shortcut froze in the background making it impossible to run any other shortcuts.

Not to mention the usual unhelpful sporadic error messages.

And performance of the app itself is still dreadful. Windows 95 was more stable.

#introduction Hi there. My name is Sam. Its nice to meet you.

I love all things geek, including #pkm and #obsidian. I'm a big fan of #automation with #SiriShortcuts and #KeyboardMaestro, but trying to learn #python and #javascript **just because**.

On social media I'm mostly quiet and it takes me a long time to write/post things, mostly b/c I like to mull.

I like to read. Currently working my way through #sff #WheelofTime , #TheWitcher, and a pile of other things in #readwisereader .

Just to be clear, Mastodon doesn't have full text search.

That means I won't be able to find your #shortcuts unless your posts use a common hashtag.

I'm open to different options, but personally I do not want to use #AppleShortcuts because it's clunky and that's not the name of the app. And the community seems against #SiriShortcuts as well.

#Shortcuts being slightly generic provides discoverability too, and anyone who wants to share #keyboardshortcuts can use that hashtag to be specific.
