I’ve also realized that gmail is just kind if a mediocre product. The UI is clunky and the integration across account products, e.g. mail to calendar, sucks ass and can’t be easily modified. This has been my experience with most monolith services, but its taken me a while to realize that I don’t need them at all, as long as I can find a replacement host.

Looking for a way to manage a dynamic calendar across devices that isn’t google calendar, too. Maybe that can be done with #obsidian?

@markus I just started using #Obsidian again. The markdown en open nature is very nice, but there's a lot that frustrates me extremely.

Lots of youtube tutorials to get anything done (rather than articles or just having the functionality work), Most 'must-have' plugins are over two years old and done seem to be updated.

Perhaps it's my GenX brain, perhaps I am more allergic to screens, but I have come to accept that I can't go paperless even if I really want to. for eg, I really do want to go paperless when it comes to my journals, on account to moving countries and not being able to take my stacks of journals with me and worrying they will be read.

But my brain really hates working on screens. For one, I get so easily distracted by the UI, notifications, the reminders that I have to check this or that. And there's something about handwriting that soothes my brain. Also, my brain resists looking at my journal in Obsidian.

So I have come up with a compromise - long-term reflections in my Obsidian (yearly and quarterly reflections), daily thoughts in a journal. Seems to be working so far.

After thinking about it for a couple of _years_, I finally gave #Obsidian a try. So far, so good!

I've imported all my notes from Apple Notes, subscribed to their Sync feature, put everything under version control as well.

And now, I can open my notes vault using #Zed and chat about my notes with the assistant panel built into Zed. Nifty.

Soo, next up is adding an `.mcp.json` and see where that takes me. :D

@verge I've already replaced duolingo with AI. Generating flash card ideas and flashcards with AI voicing and explanations. All in #obsidian for free!

I wrote about the process here but someone should really make it as a standalone free app:

Desde hace dos semanas uso #Obsidian sincronizando ordenador y móvil gracias a #Syncthing, me estoy organizando todo ahí y siento que he pasado a otro nivel en mi curro y mi vida en general. Tenía pendiente conseguir configurar Syncthing y lo hice así por cabezonería, pero también os digo que sincronizar Obsidian con su opción de pago sale a 42 euros anuales, que poco me parece para lo práctico que resulta.

No soy geek y respondo preguntas.
