I call BS:
"On an annual basis, this means job displacements peak at between 60,000 and 275,000 jobs a year, which are relatively modest figures compared with the average number of job losses seen over the past decade in the UK (450,000 per year) and even more so relative to the overall labour force (33 million)."
How many jobs were created as result of digitalisation and automation in the last 20 years?

This is our opportunity to co-create something rooted in transparency, accountability, and care. A place where we can challenge harmful norms without compromising who we are.

This is a great discussion by Juri Viehoff, Associate Professor of Philosophy at the University of Utrecht, on AI Agents and Solidarity at Work covering Individual Goods of Work, Solidarity as a Communal Good, How AI Undermines Solidarity, and Preserving Solidarity in the Age of AI.

AI is simultaneously training call center workers to sound different AND replacing them entirely. 42,000 agents use "accent translation" software while chatbots handle the calls. It's like getting a makeover for a job interview... that no longer exists. Peak 2024 vibes!

People say things like "AI is scary" when what they mean is "AI is going to require me to change".
@davdittrich how can both of these be true?
A) lower-ability applicants appear more skilled than they are, placing them in roles demanding higher qualifications
B) LLM-induced improvements in the cover letter do not increase the job-seeker’s likelihood to get invited to an interview
The reality is, whether we like it or not, the world—and most workplaces—are embracing AI. I work in IT Ops and we're rolling out Copilot, ChatGPT & Gemini across our Windows ecosystem. These tools are becoming as normal as email. Schools need to teach AI literacy & prompt skills. It’s not cheating—it’s the new baseline. Resisting it just means falling behind. #AI #EdTech #FutureOfWork
Could AI spawn new roles—storyworld curators, data dramaturgs—instead of shrinking jobs? How has AI opened revenue streams that didn’t exist three years ago? Share examples to replace zero-sum fears with curiosity. #FutureOfWork

But you know what’s worse than failing? Not trying at all.
Because if there’s even one person out there who’s also feeling isolated…who’s also feeling like they’ve lost something vital in all this noise…who’s also ready to build something better—then it’s already worth it.
This is the risk.
This is the work.
This is the invitation.
Let’s start over—together.
Not just as a member, but as a co-conspirator.
Together, we build.
Together, we grow.
Together, we break the cycle of surface connections and start nourishing something deeper.
So if you’ve been searching for a community where justice is a shared responsibility, where growth doesn’t mean harm, and where you're not expected to shoulder it all alone—consider this your invitation.
Because the only way we move forward is together.
The strange hour between eras
The promise of work is breaking down.
Value is shifting. Productivity is migrating to the hobbyist space.
But without new forms of organization, this change won't carry us forward.

As creation gets democratized, capital cries "deprofessionalization!" But are all those meta-roles in corporations really serving us — or just maintaining power structures? Let’s rethink what overhead ought to be in a world where anyone can build.

Work Less, Blame More?
A thought-provoking article in DER SPIEGEL dives into Germany's debate over working hours, retirement, and identity. Archived (no paywall): https://archive.is/B9pab
It starts with a simple observation: Germany works a lot—but not long. High participation, short hours. Why? What does that say about us?

AI can build fast. But only you can lead with soul.
I let AI write most of my bot.
It worked—but it wasn’t me.
That final 10%? That’s where leadership lives.
