When it all comes together:
TWO #PineappleExpress events with extreme rain,
Spillways potentially opening on upstream (aging) dams,
Vegetation lost to wildfires,
Stormwater management system designed for the 20th century:
all together that raises the risk of major flooding.

Dang that’s a classic #PineappleExpress trajectory for Sunday through Wednesday in the Pacific Northwest. If this pattern holds together, the moisture plume from Hawaii will raise snow levels and bring significant rain.

Some flooding and landslides wouldn’t surprise me but as the snowpack isn’t robust I don’t think there’s a widespread huge flood risk.

TIL: The University of Southern California was hit by a #tornado—and a strong one, at that—in 1983. Also struck was the junction of the 5 and the 110 downtown, and the area of #LosAngeles now occupied by Crypto.com Arena, where the #Lakers play.

#California might see a tornado or two tonight from the current storm system.
