Yipee and Yikes!
My 30+ high-school dropout daughter, who has worked up diplomas in real estate management, child care management, and chef in an attempt to find her niche, is now officially a PhD candidate in Psychology on the research side. She made her funding pitch today with the university and was accepted by the board, chaired by the Dean. The Dean even gave her the name of a research company she works with and said, "Apply here, and we'll get you extra funding."
Her work will be in developing resilience in people (including children and adults, "normal" and neuro-divergent, able-bodied and otherwise) before and after major fire events.
The only revision they asked for was to add a biography to her presentation paper, as they didn't realise she was a volunteer firefighter as well before the slide show—there was a photo in there of her in uniform working with kids.
The first in either of our families to go this far.
Now the real work starts...
