This is the last part of the journey for me before I turn and head back homewards at the station itself.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.org.uk/tags/MyWork" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MyWork</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.org.uk/tags/MyPhoto" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MyPhoto</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.org.uk/tags/CCBYSA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CCBYSA</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.org.uk/tags/DSLR" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DSLR</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.org.uk/tags/Nikon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Nikon</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.org.uk/tags/D7000" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>D7000</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.org.uk/tags/Autumn" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Autumn</span></a></p>
Khurram Wadee ✅<p>Yesterday, we went on a trip to <a href="https://mastodon.org.uk/tags/Penzance" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Penzance</span></a> in <a href="https://mastodon.org.uk/tags/Cornwall" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Cornwall</span></a>. There is a direct <a href="https://mastodon.org.uk/tags/RailwayLine" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RailwayLine</span></a> running from here to <a href="https://mastodon.org.uk/tags/London" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>London</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.org.uk/tags/Paddington" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Paddington</span></a>. My local station is about half way along this 6-hour route and I’ve been on the London leg many time and so I thought it would be nice to go to the end of the line in the other direction. There are lots of <a href="https://mastodon.org.uk/tags/RailwayStations" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RailwayStations</span></a> with strange names, like <a href="https://mastodon.org.uk/tags/Lostwithiel" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Lostwithiel</span></a> and <a href="https://mastodon.org.uk/tags/StErth" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>StErth</span></a> and so it was nice to pass through them on our way.</p>

Tim Richards<p>Time for another train post…</p><p>In 2019 I took the Night Riviera from Penzance to London, UK. The Night Riviera is one of only two sleeper train services surviving in Britain, the other being the Caledonian Sleeper (which serves five destinations in Scotland).</p><p>In the daytime it takes five hours for this train journey from Cornwall, but overnight it’s more leisurely, allowing enough time for sleep. On boarding I dropped my backpack in my compartment and went straight to the bar car where I had a drink and a chat with my fellow passengers. </p><p>Then I headed to bed and had a good sleep as we trundled toward the capital. On reaching Paddington Station, sleeper passengers could use the showers and coffee facilities located in what used to be Queen Victoria’s waiting room. Very nice! </p><p><a href="https://aus.social/tags/RailTravel" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RailTravel</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/SleeperTrain" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SleeperTrain</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/TrainTravel" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TrainTravel</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/Train" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Train</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/Trains" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Trains</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/London" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>London</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/Penzance" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Penzance</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/UK" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>UK</span></a> cc <span class="h-card"><a href="https://mas.to/@seatsixtyone" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>seatsixtyone</span></a></span></p>
Nika Shilobod<p>A few snaps from yesterday's <a href="https://fediscience.org/tags/Montol" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Montol</span></a> Festival in <a href="https://fediscience.org/tags/Penzance" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Penzance</span></a>, <a href="https://fediscience.org/tags/Cornwall" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Cornwall</span></a>. My favorite way to welcome the <a href="https://fediscience.org/tags/WinterSolstice" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>WinterSolstice</span></a>. The festival is a revival or reinterpretation of many of the traditional <a href="https://fediscience.org/tags/Cornish" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Cornish</span></a> midwinter customs &amp; <a href="https://fediscience.org/tags/Christmas" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Christmas</span></a> traditions formerly practiced in and around the Penzance area. <a href="https://fediscience.org/tags/folklore" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>folklore</span></a> More pics in comments.</p>
