Captain Carl is played by the late great Phil Hartman. He and Paul Reubens met while members of The Groundlings and later developed and starred in the club show version of “Pee Wee’s Playhouse” and the film “Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure”. Unfortunately, due to being hired by SNL he had to leave the tv show version of “Pee-Wee’s Playhouse” after the first few episodes of the first season. “Restaurant” is the final episode he worked on.

This is one of my proudest works, because I really communicated what I saw in my mind and felt in my heart.

I sent a poster of this to #LynneMarieStewart, who plays Miss Yvonne, and she sent me a very sweet note!

Pee-Wee was a huge influence on my aesthetics, my sense of humor, even my sense of self, who I was, who I wanted to be, and how I wanted to move through this world.
