Humans aren't the only ones who enjoy a spot of tea now and again. Little monsters have been know to slip quietly into kitchens when no one is around and sneak a sip of two of freshly brewed sweetness. Alas, some of these tiny creatures may become so enamored with the tea, that they sip themselves silly and fall into a state of euphoria, causing all manner of behavior.

Welcome to my new interview series. I am the official human spokesperson for the Guardian Monster Guild, editor of the "Monster Times & Review" and author of the glamorous tell-all book, "What Monsters Want". These are hard-won credentials that I have worked tirelessly to obtain. As an ordinary human being, entering the realm of Monsterdom requires a rigorous determination, and an ego that can survive all manner of taunts, threats and indignation. I have endured countless nips, pokes and licks from numerous monsters whose intent, it seems, was to provoke me into giving up. I have proved them wrong! NOTE: This latest set of interviews on monster pets is for human eyes only and includes interviews with a select group from the Gorgeous Monsters Society. (This is the name they give themselves.) Guardian Monster: PANTANKEROUS PRICKLEBACK.

PERSONALITY: Alert, like an angry porcupine, his glistening orange-blue quills and barbed tail are at the ready, prepared to skewer any oncoming danger.

POTENTIAL ISSUES: Accidental shootings are always possible. Try not to be alarmed, his quills are not fatal, just darned uncomfortable. They are meant to deter, deflate, and temporarily incapacitate. You should probably be sitting down when you first meet, so you don’t hurt yourself falling over, just in case you become an unintentional victim.

RULES OF ETIQUETTE: Speak softly and maintain eye contact at all times. Do not turn your back, bend down to tie your shoelaces or, for goodness sake, sneeze if at all possible. This monster is naturally high strung with a built in “itchy trigger finger”, and may shoot you accidentally. His eyes, nose and ears act like highly tuned defense radar, so any violent ACHOO! may activate it.

FACES. We all have them. They fascinate me. Expressions in particular - from subtle to extreme.
OLD PAPER. These too share qualities of human expression. From long ago handwritten notes, aged newspapers and maps to worn paper stained with time. In this series of prints, I combine them to create whimsical "stories" about the nature of being human.
