The weather has been a bit too gloomy for my liking, as summers are short and cherished here up north. I had this navy blue yarn in my stash, so what a better way to spend rainy days than making a sweater

Another knitting first: a sock!
I got some self striping yarn from my mum on midsummer and made the sock in 3-4 days, which was not only surprisingly quick but surprisingly easy, too!

I Frankensteined it from a Novita pattern and individual instructions from a Finnish blog called Kantalappu for the short row heel and the "anatomically correct" toe. Some YouTube videos were also looked at to understand how to work the heel, but after I got the gist of it the rest was pretty easy.

Given how long it took me to actually get started with knitting I'm quite impressed with myself for getting this done without unraveling once! There were definitely holes in the heel where I didn't tighten things properly (I think...) but I fixed those with leftover yarn after I was finished with the knitting. (Basically just sewed them shut.

)

Now I just need to make a second one, let's see how long that'll take me. I hope I have enough yarn left!
