Dan Carkner🎻loool 😭 google translate was possessed by a catholic demonsometimes I load documents in other languages into Google translate to skim their contents more quickly in English and I accidentally still had it set to German even though the document was in Yiddish. Y⃒̸̷̝̜̙ͥͥͥngmar<a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/GoogleTranslate" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#GoogleTranslate</a> seems to be getting worse and worse, sometimes omitting entire sentences or ignoring meaningful words.Hilariously, it also attempts to translate all-digits dates but then messes them up so they become a completely different date somehow. I looked up the German word gegenwart which GT automatically translated to Dutch* as cadeau (present, in the sense of gift), but actually it means aanwezig, present (in the sense of time), which <a href="https://fediscience.org/tags/DeepL" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#DeepL</a> correctly recognised first time.
