#Laichwiltach Nation’s Hereditary Chief Tsahaukuse's (aka George Quocksister Jr.) traditional, #handwoven Chief's #hat. Made from yellow #cedar bark with beading & an #EagleFeather attached.
Sitting in front of the woven hat is a row of some #handcarved miniature canoe #paddles, carved from red & yellow cedar. Chief Darren Blaney of the #Xwémalhkwu aka #Homalco #FirstNation #carved over 100 of these paddles. They were carved in #honour of the many young Homalco lives lost.

These rich, white, racist, misogynistic #bigots had the luxury of living quite comfortably into very old ages. The #privilege of growing old & having comfort - that almost none of the #marginalized folks - that these old rich white bigots directed #hatred & #cruelty campaigns towards - were able to experience.

Never let bigots feel comfortable while they're still alive & spreading their bigoted cruelty. #Honour #victims that they helped to kill - by refusing to tolerate bigots & exposing them.

#Activists & #advocates gathered in downtown #Halifax Tuesday afternoon to call for an overhaul of the #JusticeSystem to improve its treatment of #IndigenousPeople & to #honour the #memories of #Indigenous people who #died in provincial custody.
The crowd marched from the Peace & Friendship Park to the #HalifaxCentralLibrary holding signs that read "Real Justice Doesn't Kill People" & "Say Their Names."
