This platter is a more conventional. It's a shallow concave plate. It's 30 cm across. The rim is a bit less than 4 mm thick. It's a piece of salvaged #GarryOak.

On #InternationalBiodiversityDay, May 22, #SwanLakeChristmasHillNatureSanctuary announced that #ChristmasHill joined Trial Islands #Ecological Reserve as a designated #KeyBiodiversityArea #KBA. KBAs are special areas that support rare & #EndangeredSpecies & #ecosystems & key natural processes. Trial Islands Ecological Reserve, off Oak Bay’s shores, was the 1st designated key #biodiversity area in #Canada.

Garry Oak Savannah

This image was taken on a foggy afternoon, on a rocky hillside in Victoria's Beacon Hill Park. The main subject is a gnarly Garry Oak, somewhat silhouetted against a gray sky. Most of the rocky outcrop in the foreground is covered with various mosses and lichens. In the background, shrouded in fog, are more Garry Oaks and a few Douglas Firs.
