The multiplayer, or the lack there of, at the moment is so utterly broken and so lacking of being properly made that for a long time, I was just not bothering with it. Seeing it as something unnecessary. Something that does not need to be touched, because other things, like the...

blenderdumbass . orgA Rant About Making a Multiplayer Game

Anyone know if it's possible to set core affinity for something via a method more like, say, an environment variable or something like that that could be added to startup parameters or similar in things like Steam in Linux?

I was thinking it would be beneficial to put games by default on one CCD (but still able to use the other if they need to -- I have six cores per CCD, so most games would fit on one, but maybe not all) and it would be nice to put them on the better (second) CCD along the way while I'm at it.

taskset can do it, but I'd like something I could add to, say, things like Lutris in addition to Steam in game parameters. Really an environment variable would be the best possible thing since that's so easy to add into all these tools.

Feeling a bit disappointed today. I tried to buy Cyberpunk 2077 on both the Epic Store and Steam, but my card was declined on both platforms. I reached out to their support teams, but they weren't able to shed any light on what's going wrong. I prefer these stores as they generally make Linux gaming less of a headache.

Last time I purchased a game was RDR2 from Gamebillet. It ran smoothly on Windows, but after switching to Linux, I hit a wall. I installed the Rockstar Games launcher using Lutris, but it was far from perfect. The launcher UI didn't scale properly and the download kept restarting from scratch, making it impossible to pause or even safely shut down my laptop. After a few frustrating attempts, I threw in the towel.

Just wanted to vent a bit as I was really looking forward to diving into Night City. Here's hoping I can sort out this issue soon and finally get my hands on Cyberpunk 2077!

Most Free / Libre Software projects are maintained either by strong communities, or through some kind of donation system. Libre Games struggle with both aspects. There are community driven games, but those lack vision and coherent style, because different people contribute differently, on...

I stumbled upon an older PC game that seems to be from the kind that took 'fast-paced' seriously. This one is racing but it reminded me of Unreal Tournament 1999/2004 and all the nerve cells that I joyfully burned in front of the computer.

Such experiences, captivate the senses in a way that's the closest we've gotten so far to jacking into the computer. (not a fan of the idea, but still)
