The renewed #US - #China #trade truce…left a key area of #export restrictions tied to #NationalSecurity untouched, an unresolved conflict that threatens a more comprehensive deal….

Beijing has not…granted export clearance for some specialized #RareEarth #magnets that #USmilitary suppliers need for fighter #jets & #missile systems…. The US maintains export curbs on China's purchases of advanced #AI #chips out of concern that they also have #military applications.

As reported in the article:

“A government spokesperson said that “only Labor has a concrete, real plan to see our emissions reduce while ensuring our economy continues to grow”.

“As we’ve consistently said – gas has an important role to play in the transition as the ultimate backstop for renewables,” they said.”

Approving #Gas #Extraction for #Export DOES NOT play a role in #Transition. SO Why Approve them? There is bugger all revenue from #PRRT so it’s not money. It’s not #jobs really considering how few jobs we’re talking about in near full employment conditions and it’s not about the #economy because our economy grows pretty much in line with population — #Immigration.

WHY IS #LABOR #GREENLIGHTING ? I’m fed up too (and a party member as well). It’s either money for mates, graft and corruption or else the buggers haven’t got a clue. Not much to choose from then…

You know what would go a long way… for #AlboPM to have a heart to heart talk with the electorate. Tell us why this is happening so we can understand the reasons behind it. What we don’t need is #SoundBytes that brushes us off. Yes… you #Anthony, start talking to us!

Just finished moving my email from Proton to Fastmail. The documentation for this makes it sound like the only option for importing your email from Proton is by hand via .eml files in batches of 1,000. :yikes:

But I was able to use Thunderbird, connected via Proton Bridge, to create MBOX files for each folder and then use the "HEY" import feature in Fastmail. Much easier.

Thunderbird has an Export tool called "ImportExport Tools NG" that made this possible. Hooray!

A ‘surprisingly good March’ helps German GDP exceed expectations.

The German economy, Europe's biggest, grew by 0.4% in the first quarter thanks to stronger-than-expected exports and manufacturing.

That was double the growth initially estimated.
