A group of white South Africans arrived in the U.S. today under President Trump's refugee plan. Trump said that members of the country's Afrikaner minority were victims of "racial discrimination" and claimed that a genocide was taking place targeting white farmers — allegations that have been widely discredited. The United Nations refugee agency, UNHCR, has also not been involved in the resettlement scheme, and Afrikaner author Max du Preez told @BBCNews that the claims were a "total absurdity" based on "nothing." White South Africans make up just 7.3% of the population, but own the vast majority of privately held farmland, according to a 2017 government report.
