Pool of Radiance (POR) Thread.

POR is an old game from 1988. I first played it back around 1991 on a PC with MS-DOS. The lure of nostalgia can be pretty strong, and that's a big reason why I decided to play it again. However, I teetered on that decision briefly--after searching it up online and seeing some screen shots, I wondered if it would be disappointing.

I finished EcoQuest 1, a really enjoyable adventure despite me not being the target demographic.

The art was nice (better than Space Quest 4 imo, from the same year), the music was *great*, and the story uplifting.

No selfish motivations here, like in the Quest/Larry/etc series, but a trust in science, and a shared responsibility to make the world better.

I played the Talkie version and, predictably for the time, the voice acting isn't perfect, but it did give it that warm cartoon feel.

Implemented a few mechanics in #OpenCrystalCaves, including being able to die (just restarts the level), the reverse gravity powerup, and the stop enemies powerup. To improve over #CrystalCaves, the stop powerup makes enemies blink, to hint that they can't hurt the player - this isn't obvious and may have tricked many new players.

Level 3 may be very linear but it packs a lot of powerups - including invincibility - so it's memorable.

Unter Strafandrohung wird gestellt, wer «finanziell, materiell oder technologisch» den ICC-Chefankläger #Khan unterstützt. Dazu gehört auch seine #M365-Mailbox, die er nicht mehr nutzen kann.

Dass dies das Vertrauen in die Verlässlichkeit der US-Big-Tech-Unternehmen untergräbt, scheint ihm wohl egal. Auch wenn deren Chefs ihm Millionen gaben

As I was testing the mouse support I got an idea for a small game that I could include with the OS. It will justify the need for that support in keyboard/text-only driven system.

Here are few test sprites and how it could look like. Your cursor will be changed to that animal, you will leave the trails on the ground (more and more) and you need to avoid the mop that is trying to clean the floor.

Do you recognize what I was inspired by? Are you that old? ;)
