Dave Mason<p>Pool of Radiance (POR) Thread.</p><p>POR is an old game from 1988. I first played it back around 1991 on a PC with MS-DOS. The lure of nostalgia can be pretty strong, and that's a big reason why I decided to play it again. CONFIG.SYS: LOADHIGH<p>I finished EcoQuest 1, a really enjoyable adventure despite me not being the target demographic.</p><p>The art was nice (better than Space Quest 4 imo, from the same year), the music was *great*, and the story uplifting.</p><p>No selfish motivations here, like in the Quest/Larry/etc series, but a trust in science, and a shared responsibility to make the world better.</p><p>I played the Talkie version and, predictably for the time, the voice acting isn't perfect, but it did give it that warm cartoon feel.</p><p><a href="https://bitbang.social/tags/DOS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DOS</span></a></p>

congusbongusgames<p>Implemented a few mechanics in <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/OpenCrystalCaves" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>OpenCrystalCaves</span></a>, including being able to die (just restarts the level), the reverse gravity powerup, and the stop enemies powerup. Johan van der Knijff<p>Funnily enough this immediately gave me inspiration for a new (yet to be written) follow-up to my 2014 post about <a href="https://digipres.club/tags/QuattroPro" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>QuattroPro</span></a> for <a href="https://digipres.club/tags/DOS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DOS</span></a> spreadsheets.</p><p>Back then I declared those obsolete because no modern application was able to read them. </p><p>Fast-forward 11 years, and <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://fosstodon.org/@libreoffice" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>libreoffice</span></a></span> calc appears to read them without any problems at all!</p>

Dazu gehört auch seine <a href="https://waldvogel.family/tags/M365" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>M365</span></a>-Mailbox, die er nicht mehr nutzen kann.</p><p>Dass dies das Vertrauen in die Verlässlichkeit der US-Big-Tech-Unternehmen untergräbt, scheint ihm wohl egal.
