I’ve been a happy #Codeberg “supporting member” (no voting rights) for a couple of weeks now!
https://join.codeberg.org/
The overall organization and structure and the quality of the org/policy discussions I’ve seen so far are inspiring. It’s quite something to have cooperative decision-making at this scale (800+ members, though many without voting rights.)
(1/2) It's very good to report #bugs in #FOSS projects. Services like #github, #gitlab, #codeberg and so forth makes it easy to do so without creating a new account for each report.
My recommendations:
- be polite - people are spending their spare time to help you
- explain it thorough: exact steps to reproduce, difference between actual result and expected result, mention exact version numbers, surrounding environments with their versions, background stories (maybe in an extra section at the end), ...
Fun fact: many(!) of my #bugreports get aborted during that phase because while explaining it properly, I did find out where my mistake was. Maybe improve the documentation afterwards.
...
Here's an example of custom Compose key mappings. I added the Greek alphabet, with each keyboard letter prefixed by `<R-Alt>+g`. So, for example, pressing that and then `r` gets me `ρ`, `p` corresponds to `π` and so forth. Check it out! #Codeberg https://codeberg.org/kkremitzki/.dotfiles/src/branch/main/dev/.XCompose
The russian anti-war popup's source code is now also available on #Codeberg: https://codeberg.org/pixelcode/ru-popup
Quick question for #gamedev pplz, what is your experience like using #codeberg and #unity3d ? How does it handle LFS? I tend use the Github Desktop GUI- so I lowkey have no clue as to what the hell is going on in the command line.
Plz help :")
I would like to migrate my working project to codeberg and continue development where I am- i.e push new changes to codeburg instead of github.
Is anyone else having issues with pulling from and pushing changes to Codeberg?
The status pages show all green, but I've experienced several issues with pushing today and yesterday.
I occasionally get several "Connection closed" messages when running `git push`. It sometimes takes a couple of tries before it works.
I don't think it's my network, but it could be.

I can’t believe how silly it is. This makes Codeberg a remarkable pain in the ass for localization work.
I really can’t believe it. WTF?
I just updated the list of weather stations used by #TinyWeatherForecastGermany , and it turns out my app now supports 6291 locations worldwide.
Time to update the advertising claim from "over 5000 locations worldwide" to > 6000
#TinyWeatherForecastGermany delivers you a weather forecast on #android devices based on #opendata from the Germany's National Meteorological Service, @DeutscherWetterdienst .
It is a #floss app without any trackers.
It also includes weather warnings and a pollen forecast amongst other features.
You can get it at #IzzySoftRepo https://apt.izzysoft.de/fdroid/ or at #fdroid .
You can visit the project homepage at #codeberg

In German orthography, is it #Codeberg `e. V. ` or `e.V.`? Note the spaces. It's displayed both ways in official places
Finished migrating over most of my projects/repos to #codeberg
I figure this will make things easier for those wishing to contribute (as much as I love email-based git workflows)
Looking for a new project.
Anyone need help with a Java, Typescript, Python (or elisp, bash, others potentially) open source project.
Issue on a git repo (like codeberg) and I might take a look.

In case you didn't notice, #Tusky is now officially on #Codeberg!
Thanks to @Tak @ButterflyOfFire @fatuus and everyone who made this possible!

@Linux has compiled 2 #Codeberg repositories with platforms that are non #US based.
#Proton is a danger if you are American and join protests, as they have in their terms the clause of full cooperation with US regulation.
See list of #fediverse related "Out of US jurisdication" alternative platforms:
https://codeberg.org/Linux-Is-Best/The_Fediverse_Outside_United_States
And a general list of alternatives:
> Libre operating systems: We are happy that two projects have chosen to rely on our platform for their development
> recently. The GNU Guix project has recently moved to Codeberg. It is a functional package manager based on Nix, which can
> either be used to manage packages on an existing system, or be used as a standalone GNU operating system. By the way, it
> also allows choosing the GNU Hurd kernel.
>
> Last year, the Fedora operating system has decided to choose Forgejo as their new development platform, entering a
> close collaboration with the Forgejo developers and the Codeberg community. Althoguh they will be hosting Forgejo on
> their own infrastructure, some of their infrastructure projects can also be found on Codeberg.

Nice! I have a #codeberg issue in https://delightful.coding.social/delightful-fediverse-experience where I track #ActivityPub C2S ongoing work, or plans thereof. Will add this.
