New game I worked on just hit stores!
This is the 4th game I've done design/illo for and I'm already working on another card game that should be coming out later in 2025. Oh and an expansion for one of the previous games I worked on.
Been really cool breaking into table top game design over the last few years. I certainly hope to keep doing more of this, both for clients and also eventually myself (cue suspenseful music).

I might have actually solved the fundamental mechanism for #IvfTheBoardgame to kinda work?
Lots of work before something is even playable, but I had an idea of how to make the central mechanism work.
If I can make it work - it's going to be an unfun, extremely lucky and swingy board game that could be used as an explanation of what the process of going through IVF is like. Very far removed from the train game sorta things I normally try.
Can we decide on what makes a board game a "real game?"

Played some great games, sold some, got to MC the closing ceremonies (with a hint they may want me as their main MC next year), talked to some store owners who may want to carry my game (!!), and just had an absolute blast!

Ο Ματθαίος και ο Θάνος (πατέρας και γιος), έχοντας για χρόνια παίξει μελετώντας (ή μελετήσει παίζοντας) όλα τα επιτραπέζια παιχνίδια που έχουν στη συλλογή τους, αποφασίζουν, εν μέσω περιόδου covid όπου υπάρχει ελεύθερος χρόνος αλλά και έλλειψη δραστηριοτήτων, να δημιουργήσουν ένα δικό τους επιτραπέζιο παιχνίδι το οποίο θα συγκεντρώνει όλα τα αγαπημένα τους στοιχεία από τα αγαπημένα τους παιχνίδια. Με μόνο εξοπλισμό έναν υπολογιστή, έναν εκτυπωτή και έναν σπιτικό πλαστικοποιητή, η ιδέα τους σιγά σιγά αρχίζει και παίρνει μορφή. Αποτέλεσμα, η δημιουργία ενός νέου φανταστικού κόσμου στον οποίο οι παίκτες μάχονται ενάντια σε τρομακτικά τέρατα αλλά και μεταξύ τους για το ποιος θα ανακηρυχτεί ο μεγαλύτερος ήρωας της χώρας. Εγένετο “Ήρωες του Karab-Al”!
Μέσα στη διάρκεια περίπου τριών ετών λοιπόν, μετά από συνεχείς δοκιμές, βελτιώσεις και αναθεωρήσεις πάνω στην κεντρική ιδέα του παιχνιδιού, και επίσης με τη βοήθεια και τις χρήσιμες ιδέες και παρατηρήσεις πολλών φίλων, το “Ήρωες του Karab-Al” αποτελεί πια ένα απολαυστικό παιχνίδι με απλούς όσο και συναρπαστικούς μηχανισμούς, κατάλληλο για όλες τις ηλικίες, παιδιά και ενήλικες. Ο Ματθαίος και ο Θάνος θέλουν να το τελειοποιήσουν κρατώντας και τον καλλιτεχνικό έλεγχο, και σύντομα θα αναζητήσουν και τη δική σας βοήθεια μέσω crowdfunding για να κάνουν πραγματικότητα την κυκλοφορία του και σε πιο ευρύ επίπεδο, ώστε να το απολαύσουν όσο περισσότερα άτομα γίνεται.
Αυτή την περίοδο βρίσκονται στη φάση δημιουργίας μιας δοκιμαστικής playtest έκδοσης η οποία θα είναι διαθέσιμη σε επιλεγμένα σημεία για ελεύθερη δοκιμή όσον αφορά τους μηχανισμούς και τη ροή του παιχνιδιού, ενώ παράλληλα θα ετοιμάζεται η κανονική έκδοση με τη συμβολή εικαστικού καλλιτέχνη. Some progress pics of our game of Lodestone. Every time you capture a piece (PUSH your opponent's pieces off the edge of the board, or PULL your own pieces over top of your opponent's pieces), it gets placed on any outer flap. Once the flap is full, it flips inward, shrinking the board.
Happy to bring this out; haven’t played it in quite a while.
This is my own design; Lodestone is a two-player abstract strategy game… think checkers with magnetic powers combined with a shrinking board, like Fortnite.
