Besides the beautiful trail to Mürren, another reason for going today was checking out the new cable car from Stechelberg to Mürren, the steepest in the world.

It is really well done. The buildings are a nice mix of concrete and light wood. The cable car is so steep, that you arrive/depart from the ground station through the roof (literally). Some have compared it taking an elevator (slightly over the top, but I get their drift). The ride takes 4 minutes (ears pop) and now also gives a nice view over the valley floor and the steep wall.

Today was a real #MountainMonday for me. Walked from Grütschalp to Mürren in the Lauterbrunnen Valley.

It pretty much was the perfect day. Nice weather (a bit chilly in the shades but not too much), only a few (but nice) people on the trail, nothing else planned for the day (so could linger as much as I wanted).

Every local must hike up Niesen, the "Swiss Pyramid", at least once in his/her/their lifetime. Today it was the turn of my wife for her maiden voyage. And what a day it was.

A long time ago I arrange this day off from work and we used the perfect weather for the hike from the Wimmis side. I was wrong thinking this was the same route from Wimmis I did 10+ years ago. There is another one, which is indeed nicer, so glad my wife chose the route.

Most of the time we were in the shadow of Nielsen, only the final ridge we were in the sun. We liked the chilly temps though.

After hiking up the 1750 meters, we enjoyed a light meal on the terrace at the summit restaurant.

Brilliant day.

What a fantastic hike it was today. Have been sort of looking to the West Wall of the Niederhorn for over 15 years, but for some reason it never came to doing the Bärenpfad (Bear Trail).

It is a T4 hike which is not recommended with snow on the trail and in very wet conditions I would discourage, as there are some tricky passages where you do not want to slip.

It was a warm day, but the trail was mostly in the shades. When reaching the top (you end up on the Niederhorn Ridge) a magnificent panorama emerged. A perfect end to a super nice day on the trails with Mrs. Bergmeister.

Snow is melting more and more, so it was possible again to go higher up. Idea was to climb the Rötihore (2281 m), but there was still too much snow to my liking (especially with the warmer temperatures I do not like to be on steeper snow that much).

Bit disappointed, but the hike around the Seebergsee (including rounding Chumigalm and Geisshöri) made it up more than plenty. The first two hours I did not see a soul, during the last two some nice encounters with like-minded people.

I needed this clearing of my head.

It took us 9:30 hours moving time for 60k. Did it with my favourite human being. For her it was more than twice what she ever run before in one go.

Wir brauchten 9:30h aktive Zeit für die 60k. Machte es mit meiner Lieblingsperson. Es war mehr als die doppelte Strecke, die sie vorher jemals am Stück gelaufen ist.
