Recently arrested students gave a recap of some of the things they've been through so far. This was filmed on the 24th.

Gotta soak up those wins!
With some luck more campuses will be able to holdout. First step towards forcing these administrations into negotiating divestment.

UMN has been going just as hard as other campuses this week. On the 23rd around 1000 students gathered after organizers were arrested attempting to establish their first encampment.
Since then the students have KEPT coming back. Weathering constant police repression.

Students at the University of Minnesota report being in an hours long standoff with riot cops. As an hour ago the cops gave up.
This was the students 4th attempt to build an encampment and they seem pretty stoked to have outlasted the cops tonight!

if you are going to launch a solidarity action for palestine on a university campus, please think for 5 seconds about the strategic implications of your location. ie., don't pick a spot that is mostly only accessible by foot with limited and long egress times to places off campus.
and when shit hits the fan because you picked a terrible location, then don't suggest people head to pedestrian tunnels covered in cameras, require the use of stairs, and ultimately lead to a massive (literally carved into bedrock) parking garage or the health sciences complex which has 2x the amount of security as the rest of the campus on a normal day. oh and doors that require a University ID card to open.
unless you're intentionally trying to visibly get arrested in which case great job, I hope you're happy in the hennepin county jail for the next 4+ hrs.
edit: this is all to say: fuck #umn #sds and every other #frso front group
@kylewritescode Good morning Kyle.
I already had a productive morning. I finally figured out how to let my hybrid #Apptainer #OpenMPI container for our NASA code talk to #UKY's #HPC cluster’s InfiniBand backend. Now the code scales beautifully. Next up, getting it to run on our collaborators’ cluster at #UMN.
I think I’ll have my coffee now.
I’ll try to follow as you interact w/this & go thru followers list to collect you! Anyone I’ve not “met” before: hi! I’m an independent scholar-practitioner; I work almost exclusively w/trans & queer folks & fams. I teach in Youth Studies at #UMN & in the queer& trans counseling cert program at Fairfield U. Past books in bio; current book project focused on neoliberalism, identity & therapy as tool of neolib, imagining practice of collective care & mutual aid.
