We're a month away from the June #Solstice. In the Northern Hemisphere June 20 will be the longest day of the year and the beginning of astronomical summer. Opposite in the Southern Hemisphere, the shortest day and beginning of astronomical winter. However the change of seasons is apparent sooner at mid-latitudes, which use June 1 for beginning of meteorological summer in the north and winter in the south. It's more precise to mention which scale for the turn of the season. #astronomy #weather

Given the variety of holidays happening, depending on your beliefs, one constant is food. While we’re of Latvian descent, we’ve settled on a holiday tradition with a meal from elsewhere in Europe: paella. It goes really well with champagne.

#ArtAdventCalendar Day 23 +24 more of our #festive #decorations call them #Christmas or #Solstice either way we keep them up for many weeks- especially the #lights - to brighten the dark months. #ChristmasTree - or rather branches hanging from ceiling. I was celebrating #Slavic Koliada #holiday with one of groups in Warsaw, in atmospheric wooden house.

Poor quality is caused by weak light there. It was completely dark, only fireplace light during ceremonial part, turned on light later during feast.

Yay! Today we had 4 more seconds of daylight than yesterday and tomorrow we'll get 8 more seconds of daylight than today!

And I want you all to know that I appreciate every one of those seconds!
