Perhaps what little dogs lack in size they make up in attitude, because they command their space.

Bigger dogs seem perplexed at the small cat-sized creature that bosses them around, but if they could shrug their shoulders they would, accepting something that doesn't make sense.

"But she must be big and strong and royal. Right?"

Here is a photo of the oven pumping.

Not as much to see here, but it was neat to see the overall color this made shift as it aged in and the mercury worked its way through the rainbow.\

While it takes way longer, and is less efficient, there is no risk of the tube arcing- leading to irreversible tube death. So less exciting is good here :)

You can really see the effect while its on the aging table. The greens and yellow are all on the same tube, but that is just the argon, the brightness is the mercury (mostly its effect on the phosphors).

Gosh those Murano colors are nice. I wanna pull and coat some more tubes.

I probably should leave it in the oven overnight next time. I think the pump wasn't the greatest- it likes to snake like crazy -which looks really cool but is actually a sign of a not great pump.

We shall see how badly and how fast it stains up. I do like looking at the little rainbow doodle.

The tube just after adding the mercury. Its bright on both ends (I put the mercury on the electrodes as they run hottest). Where its bright the mercury vapor has been. The not bright is Argon only.
up close when its fully aged in. You can actually shift what color it gives off to objects closest to it by what color faces which direction. One day I will learn to really fine tune their brightness's
Kiln with door ajar to allow for the mercury trap to hang out of it. Messy vacuum hose and thermocouple management abound! That tubulation makes its way around my chair and back to the manifold.
Unable to contain my excitement, I brought the rainbow doodle back to finish aging at my apartment. It was blue leaning and I thought I didn't balance the colors well, but once the inside brightened up, it was a nice warm white once more :)
