62. #Traveller(#Mongoose)
I'm not sure I've played Traveller this century, and not since GURPS 3e, back when I was an MiB. We're doing Mysteries on Arcturus station and our tradecraft seems pretty on point. Shame our rolls aren't up to it. The best-laid schemes o' Vargr an' Aslan gang aft agley. But it's great to be back onboard a Rogue Trader.

I dedicate this special video to Snow White "Snowy" the Meerkat, who passed away on 31st October. As a meerkat enthusiast who spent years dreaming of meeting her in-person before finally being able to last year, the news of her death was heartbreaking. I'm forever grateful for the time I managed to spend with her, and to all the zoo staff and volunteers at for ensuring Snowy's life was as long and happy as possible. May she Rest In Peace 🤍

okay, it's not just me... the #mongoose #middleware is just really poorly designed. Really frustrating for those of us coming from an #activeRecord world where things are just a lot more mature.

Just wish I hadn't lost the hours I just spent banging my head against this. But at least I know now to just not attempt anything non-trivial via middleware.

futurefoundry.coMongoose Middleware GripesOne of the hardest initial hurdles using Mongoose was understanding the library's middleware or “hook” system which allows you to “hook” into the database transaction lifecycle to perform operations.
