In @notjustbikes's new video he mentioned how trams last a lot longer than busses do which prompted me to think.

In #Darmstadt, we still have a decent amount of #ST12 trams from *1990* in regular operation.
They're missing some features of newer models but they're not *that* far behind either. I even find them to be superior in some regards such as seat comfort; they're actually generally still quite nice.

I'd shudder to think of riding a bus from 1990 if those still existed.

Then there is Ford's baby subway, the Ontario Line. It will be:
- Incompatible with all other lines the #TTC operates (can't: build junctions later for interlining, can't share rolling stock)
- Smaller than Subways (Ford's logic: narrower tunnels means more distance for the same budget and more is better, never mind projected usage being higher than capacity!)

Billions wasted to satisfy our own Trump.

Watching this video makes me lament for #Toronto and #Ontario and the damage done to it by Rob and Doug Ford.

As originally designed the Eglinton LRT would have spread throughout Scarborough and Etobicoke.

Instead Ford is wasting $3.5bn to bury the west end of the line, money that could've been used to build dozens of kilometres of on-street dedicated LRT lanes.

#lrt Liberal orgs turning out their retiree loyalists. Maybe "hands off" is a bad slogan for organizing younger cohorts because their reliance on public services is less palpable (Submerged State, q.v.).…though the pandemic response should have changed that. The enormity of the liberal-to-left coordination failure right now remains hard to understand.

@HopelessDemigod @Dianora The pathetically problematic #LRT is nothing but a money pit, requiring constant repair, constant investment of funds to improve an exceedingly poorly constructed train. Of course, Ottawa has to charge more. Meanwhile, those who brought us this ill-conceived, unsuitable piece of garbage, took away vital bus routes and increased travel time significantly and frustratingly and walked away with absolutely no consequences. The #JimWatsonLegacy.

A little amused by this reaction video by Indonesians because I didn't think this was such an extraordinary thing 😅. But yes, most of the time Malaysians do queue up properly for the Lrt. I am not sure why. It sure if wasnt like that in the past. I was using minibuses back in the day and we weren't that civilized 😅

Okay riddle me this, #Ottawa #LRT fact-knowers: What is up with this section between Tunney's and Westboro where one set of tracks is on a new slab of concrete while the other set is going straight on to the regular railroad gravel? I've been waiting for months for then to pour a second ribbon of concrete but now it looks like that was never going to happen.
