#grave

So I've spent my Sunday checking out a new location for my recently deceased dad. At one point we had one or more family graves, but those are usually rented for periods of 20 years here, and since my family more or less disintegrated when my uncles died in rapid succession more than 20 years ago, those have been cancelled and recycled by now. I was never contacted about it, nor do I know what I would have done if I had. Visited the grave of my grandparents once and barely remember where it was. Needless to say, gravesites are not a big thing with my family. Anyway, my dad dies and now we're more or less starting from scratch. He lived on the other side of the country, but his SO doesn't need him close by. I think we've found a good place for him, so I'll give them a call tomorrow. It all feels rather #surreal.

The shore on the outer edge of the river's #bow was covered in pebbles, all colors, smooth and round. The sun glinted on the river's ripples.

Lees dug their toes into the pebbles. "This is where they buried Bryn?" Swallows swooped, chasing mosquitoes. "It doesn't seem like a #grave site. And Bryn doesn't deserve this tranquility."

Nalam shrugged. It wasn't that he hesitated to speak ill of the dead, just--what was the point? "Any place can host a grave," he said.
